Acorn Butte and the surrounding drainages of the Payette National Forest define this high-country landscape along the border of Idaho and Valley counties. The terrain is a complex network of ridges and watercourses, anchored by Big Creek which flows through the southern portion of the quadrangle. A unique cluster of river features along the creek includes Hard Boil Bar, Soft Boil Bar, and Over Easy Bar, names that suggest the distinct character of this backcountry area.
