The northern reaches of the Thunder Basin National Grassland dominate the high plains landscape of Campbell County, Wyoming, as shown in this 2015 study. The settlement of Adon sits in the southwestern corner of the quadrangle, serving as a focal point for local transportation routes like Adon Rd and Cow Creek Rd. The terrain is defined by a series of drainages and erosional features, most notably the Mitchell Creek Breaks and Little Mitchell Creek Breaks, which represent the transition between higher plateaus and the lower watercourses of Mitchell Cr and Little Mitchell Cr. Further north, family-named landmarks like Anderson Draw and Canoy Draw illustrate the enduring local nomenclature of the region's ranching heritage. Several significant water features appear, including the Barney Number 2 Reservoir and the perennial course of Wild Horse Cr near the northern boundary.
