1971 Map of Green Hill

USGS Topo · Published 1974

About this map

Green Hill rises above a landscape of high plains and dissected drainage basins in this Campbell County survey from the early 1970s. The region is defined by the headwaters of numerous seasonal streams, including Provant Creek, Hay Creek, and the North and South Twin Creek. Evidence of the area's grazing and natural resource economy is scattered throughout, notably at the Cow Creek Ranch and the presence of numerous drill holes and oil wells that indicate active petroleum exploration. Land use patterns are further illustrated by the inclusion of a Pack Trail near the Cow Creek Wall and the distinctively named Wreath Hill. In the southern portion of the quadrangle, the terrain drops toward the Little Powder River and the broken topography of the Deer Creek Breaks, while the Garner Lake Road provides the primary transit route through this ranching country.
