The small settlement of Adon serves as a lone focal point in this portion of Campbell County, where the high plains of northeastern Wyoming meet the complex drainage systems of the Powder River Basin. Much of the northern terrain is managed as the Thunder Basin National Grassland, a landscape defined by rolling rangeland and ephemeral watercourses. The topography becomes more intricate to the southeast where the Mitchell Creek Breaks and Little Mitchell Creek Breaks illustrate the erosional patterns of the region's draws and creek beds.
