Aledo and the nearby community of Burmah sit within a landscape defined by an extensive water management system straddling the border of Dewey and Custer counties. This area is marked by a sophisticated network of flood control structures, including the Barnitz Cr Site 11 Reservoir, Barnitz Cr Site 30 Reservoir, and the notable Barnitz Creek Site 105 Reservoir, which regulate the tributaries of E Barnitz Cr. To the northwest, the Canadian River cuts across the terrain, while the Roy Higgins Reservoir serves the southwestern reaches.
