The low-lying wetlands of eastern Lawrence County are defined by a complex network of drainage ditches and sloughs, reflecting a landscape heavily modified for agriculture. This 2017 survey shows the winding course of Village Cr as it flows south toward Alicia, passing through an area where water management is critical to the local economy. Features such as Black Spice Ditch, Maple Ditch, and Bear Cr Ditch illustrate the ongoing effort to reclaim fertile bottomlands from the natural floodplains of the White River basin.
