Bonito and Angus sit within a high-elevation landscape where the canyons of the Lincoln National Forest meet modern residential development. This 2017 survey shows the transition from the mountainous backcountry of Monjeau Peak and Loma Grande to the growing community of Ruidoso. The topography is defined by a dense network of drainages, including Rio Bonito, which feeds into Bonito Lake near the western edge of the map.
