About this map

Battle Mountain dominates the landscape of this mid-1980s survey, its slopes deeply etched by canyons such as Trenton Canyon and Rocky Canyon. The settlement of Galena is situated on the eastern flank, marked by a Cem and historical mining infrastructure. The quadrangle reveals an intensive history of mineral extraction throughout the range, with numerous operations including the White and Shiloh Mine, Modoc Mine, and Buffalo Valley Mine scattered across the high terrain. Water management is evident along the eastern slopes at Willow Creek Reservoir. To the north, the elevation culminates at Antler Peak, overlooking the Wild Horse Basin. The southern portion of the map is defined by the heavy industrial presence of the Copper Canyon Mine and the Independence Mine, where extensive networks of Mineshafts and Mine Tunnels trace the path of Nevada's resource-driven economy.
