Old Woman Creek meanders through the interior of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in this 1983 provisional study. The landscape is defined by the hydrologic network of the Koness River and the stark elevation changes of the Brooks Range foothills, including Brushman Mountain and Little Brushman. This survey, compiled from 1974 aerial photography, illustrates a vast tract of the North Slope Borough where human infrastructure is notably absent, replaced by the sheer scale of the natural environment.
