Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore dominates the northern reaches of this Upper Peninsula landscape, where the Hurricane River flows toward the coast. The terrain is a complex network of glacial kettle lakes and wetlands, characterized by a dense concentration of smaller water bodies such as Teal Lake, Moccasin Lake, and the aptly named Pothole Lake. Near the eastern boundary, the Sucker River meanders south of Grand Sable Lake, providing a distinct contrast to the more isolated upland basins found further west.
