Columbia River waters dominate the eastern edge of this region, divided into Lake Pateros and Lake Entiat by the topography of the basin. The settlement of Azwell sits on the western shore, positioned between the river and the rising slopes of Arbuckle Mountain. Further west, the landscape is defined by the transition from the high plateau of Highland Bench into the deep glacial scarring of Alta Coulee. Much of the western terrain is managed as part of the Okanogan National Forest and Wenatchee National Forest, featuring remote landmarks such as Evergreen Camp and Bonnie Marie Spring.
