The Bald Hills define the southern landscape of this region, where the high prairie of Central South Dakota meets a complex junction of county lines. This 2015 topographic survey documents the precise intersection of three counties—Potter, Faulk, and Hyde—illustrated by the Potter Co Faulk Co, Potter Co Hyde Co, and Faulk Co Hyde Co boundaries. The terrain is characterized by a high-density grid of section-line roads, such as 329th Ave and 172nd St, which segment the rolling plains and numerous small potholes and wetlands common to the Missouri Plateau. These roads, including Ellisville Ave on the eastern edge, reveal the enduring structure of the Public Land Survey System, with townships like t117n r73w and t116n r73w providing a framework for the vast agricultural lands and isolated homesteads of the area.
