Bardley and the small settlement of Bennett anchor this rugged section of the Ozarks within the Mark Twain National Forest. The landscape is defined by a dense network of waterways and complex terrain, where numerous hollows such as Schoolhouse Hollow, Dog Hollow, and Mill Hollow descend toward the river forks. Fourche Lake and Blue Hole Spring serve as significant water features in a region dominated by the drainage of the N Fork Buffalo Cr and S Fork Buffalo Cr.
