The Chugach National Forest dominates this Alaskan landscape, where the glacial influence on the terrain is evident in the transition from ice to water. The eastern portion of the sheet is defined by the massive reach of Steller Glacier and the southern edge of Waxell Glacier, which feed a complex network of freshwater bodies and drainage systems. To the west, the landscape opens into a series of significant lakes, including Starodubtsov Lake, Lake Ivanov, and Lake Roselius, illustrating the active post-glacial hydrology of the region.
