2024 Map of Bethera

USGS Topo · Published 2024

About this map

The low-lying wetlands of Berkeley County dominate this landscape, characterized by numerous elliptical depressions known locally as bays. Within the Francis Marion National Forest, features like Little Hellhole Bay, Graveyard Bay, and Huckleberry Bay create a unique mosaic of poorly drained terrain. These natural formations dictated the development of the region, forcing settlements such as Bethera and Witherbee to occupy the slightly higher ground between the swampy reaches of Jericho Swamp and Buggy Swamp.
