Bettie and the surrounding Upshur County countryside are defined by the intricate drainages of Little Cypress Cr and its numerous tributaries. This landscape is marked by small upland ridges and localized high points such as Union Ridge and the Barnwell Mountains to the east. Historically significant rural communities are scattered throughout the quadrangle, including Union Hill, Ewell, and Bethlehem, many of which grew around early road junctions and local churches.
