The Interior Alaska wilderness within the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area is defined by the high, undulating terrain of the Brooks Range foothills captured in this 2017 survey. The landscape transitions from the higher elevations of T15n R15w and T15n R14w in the northern half of the quadrangle down toward the more complex hydrological patterns of the south. In T14n R15w and T14n R14w, small, unnamed ponds and wetlands are scattered across the valley floors, illustrating the drainage systems of this subarctic environment. The lack of infrastructure or named settlements highlights the preserved nature of this region, where the Public Land Survey System grids are the primary human markers on an otherwise undisturbed landscape of ridges and basins.
