The crest of Big Creek Peak and the high ridges of Flatiron Mountain dominate this late-1980s landscape at the intersection of the Salmon National Forest and Challis National Forest. This high-altitude terrain in the Salmon River Mountains is defined by the headwaters of numerous drainages, including the South Fork Big Creek and North Fork Big Creek, which carve deep valleys across the Lemhi and Custer county line. Evidence of early mineral exploration remains visible through several Adit markings near the upper reaches of Prospect Creek.
