Cold Springs Mountain dominates the northeastern corner of this corner of Moffat County, giving way to the high-altitude depressions of Big Joe Basin and Little Joe Basin. The landscape is a network of named ridges and canyons, including Peekaboo Ridge and Limestone Ridge, which funnel drainage toward Vermillion Creek and Matt Creek. This area of Northwest Colorado maintains a remote character, defined by expansive terrain like Browns Park and seasonal water sources such as Cold Spring and Bassett Spring.
