About this map

Harding Icefield dominates the western interior of this coastal survey, where massive ice flows descend through the Kenai Mountains toward the deep fjords of the Kenai Peninsula. In the early 1950s, this landscape was defined by the raw movement of ice and water, captured here through aerial photogrammetry. Tidal inlets like Aialik Bay and Holgate Arm show a complex shoreline where the Aialik Glacier and Holgate Glacier meet the sea.
