The town of Bogata serves as the focal point of this Northeast Texas landscape, where a dense grid of local streets like Halesboro St and Roachtown Rd gives way to a sprawling network of creeks and rural drainage. The terrain is defined by the winding course of the Sulphur River, which forms the southern boundary between Red River Co and Franklin Co. Near the river, the large expanse of River Crest Lake dominates the southeast corner, surrounded by low-lying wetlands. For those tracing family histories, several burial sites are preserved across the quadrangle, including Dodd Cem in the north and Cooper-Woods Cem near the center. The settlement of Johntown appears along the highway to the south, situated near the confluence of several tributaries including Little Mustang Cr and Mustang Cr.
