Bouldin Island and the surrounding labyrinth of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta define this complex aquatic landscape. This 1990s survey, updated from earlier imagery, illustrates a region of deep-seated agricultural tracts and reclaimed marshlands, many of which are designated as subsidence areas. Large islands like Staten Island and Venice Island are separated by a dense network of waterways, including the Mokelumne River and the industrial Stockton Deep Water Channel. The transformation of the delta from wild marsh to an engineered system of levees and cuts is evident in features like Singapore Cut and Mandeville Cut. Public recreation and conservation are noted at Franks Tract State Recreation Area and Mandeville Tip County Park, while the presence of numerous Pumping Stations highlights the ongoing efforts to manage water levels across the low-lying Webb Tract and Holland Tract.
