Box Lake and Horse Lake lie at the center of this drainage network in Lincoln County, where the high desert landscape is defined by its seasonal watercourses. The territory is marked by a complex system of draws and arroyos, including Lavade Draw in the northwest and Hogadero Draw in the northeast, which funnel water toward the lower plains. In the southern portion of the quadrangle, Patos Cr and Arroyo del Macho provide evidence of the erratic but critical hydrology that has shaped land use and ranching boundaries in this part of New Mexico. Human presence is minimal, represented largely by the path of Co Rd B001 cutting across the northern reaches, while the land remains primarily organized by the section lines of Township 5 and 6 South. This map offers a clear view of the natural landmarks, such as Pedernal Arroyo, that served as essential reference points for early surveyors and travelers through this arid region.
