Bighorn National Forest dominates this high-altitude landscape along the border of Big Horn and Sheridan Counties. The terrain is defined by a series of prominent rises including Boyd Ridge, Crater Ridge, and Sheep Mtn. This area serves as a significant drainage basin for numerous creeks that carve through the mountain landscape, most notably Lodge Grass Cr and the steep Lodge Grass Canyon in the northern reaches, alongside the various branches of Pumpkin Creek.
