Breckinridge and the small community of Cropper anchor this section of Garfield County, Oklahoma, where the landscape is defined by an extensive network of watershed protection structures. The drainage systems of Red Rock Cr to the north and Black Bear Cr to the south are managed by a series of numbered reservoirs, including Upper Red Rock Cr Site 30 Reservoir and Upper Black Bear Cr Site 37 Reservoir. These water management features illustrate the mid-to-late 20th-century agricultural engineering common in the Southern Plains.
