Brown Creek Ridge dominates this interior portion of the Clearwater National Forest, a landscape defined by a complex network of drainage basins. The northern territory is marked by the westward flow of Musselshell Creek and its many tributaries, including Jim Brown Creek and Burnt Creek, which cut through the high terrain near Deer Gulch. The southern half of the map is shaped by the significant canyon of Lolo Creek, which forms a natural boundary between Clearwater and Idaho counties.
