Siskiyou National Forest land defines this portion of the Klamath Mountains, where the high ridges of the Kalmiopsis Wilderness separate the drainage basins of the Smith and Illinois Rivers. The terrain is marked by prominent summits including Buckskin Peak and Oregon Mtn, with the county line between Curry and Josephine counties following the high ground of the Kalmiopsis Rim Trl.
