The town of Burnet serves as the focal point of this Central Texas landscape, situated at the junction of US Highway 281 and F-M 963. The settlement's history is reflected in its numerous burial grounds, including the Burnet Cem, the Odd Fellows Cem to the south, and outlying sites like the Frazier Family Cem and Bethel Cem. To the north and east, the terrain is defined by the headwaters of the Russell Fork San Gabriel River and the N Fork San Gabriel River, which carve through the Edwards Plateau geography.
