The Argus Range defines the eastern skyline of this high-desert landscape, where the northern Mojave Desert meets the steep alluvial fans of eastern California. This 2021 survey shows a topography dominated by dramatic elevation changes, from the flat reaches of the Indian Wells Valley in the southwest to the rugged drainages of Burro Canyon and Deadman Canyon. A single county boundary cuts across the southern portion of the sheet, marking the divide between Inyo Co and San Bernardino Co.
