Hubbards Cove and the small settlement of Hixon anchor this 2013 topographic study of the Tennessee highlands. The landscape is defined by its deep drainages and named points, including Hickory Creek Gulf, Millstone Hollow, and Cane Hollow. Water sources are numerous, with both Christian Spring and McGee Spring emerging near Marvin Chapel in the northwest, while the Elk River winds through the central portion of the quadrangle.
