Monte Prieto Ranch Airport serves as a lone landmark in this high-desert portion of Socorro County, where the topography is defined by the broad elevation of Cat Mesa. The landscape is largely undeveloped, carved by the seasonal drainage of Dulce Draw which winds through the eastern sections of the quadrangle. A sparse network of roads, including Monte Prieto Rd and the restricted WSMR P Route 41, provides the only passage through these sprawling ranchlands and public land tracts. The map reveals the township and range divisions of t2s r8e and t3s r9e, illustrating the vast, open character of the New Mexico interior where infrastructure is minimal and tied closely to large-scale ranching operations and regional transit corridors like Co Rd 187.
