About this map

Cecilton and the surrounding necks of the upper Chesapeake region are captured here just after the war, showing a landscape defined by tidewater inlets and boundary markers. The topography follows the high ground of Middle Neck and Sassafras Neck, where the Bohemia River and Sassafras River shape the agricultural boundaries of Cecil County. This 1953 reprint of earlier 1940s field data preserves the layout of established rural parishes like St Francis Xavier Church and Bohemia Manor Church, alongside educational landmarks such as the George Biddle Biddle HS. Along the eastern edge, a series of state line markers including MD-DEL Boundary Mon 3 and MD-DEL Boundary Mon 4 precisely delineate the border with Delaware, marking the transition from Maryland’s shore into The Levels.
