About this map

Franklin D Roosevelt Lake National Recreation Area dominates the landscape where the Columbia River forms the border between Ferry and Stevens counties. This mid-1980s survey captures a transition between the Colville Indian Reservation to the west and rural homesteads to the east. Several small settlements and post offices dot the riverbanks, including Covada and Kewa on the reservation side, and Bissell, Moore, and Cedonia on the eastern shore. Evidence of early resource extraction is prominent near Rattlesnake Mtn, with the Longstreet Mine and Silver Leaf Mine marked near the northern edge of the sheet. The terrain is marked by steep canyons such as Stray Dog Canyon and drainages like Nez Perce Creek and Harvey Creek that feed into the vast reservoir behind Grand Coulee Dam.
