About this map

The Gilson Mountains dominate this high-desert landscape where industrial extraction and agricultural irrigation meet the eastern edge of the Great Basin. Heavy industry is centered at the Cement Plant and nearby Quarry near Uisco, while the Sevier River supports a complex network of water management including the Mc Intyre Canal, Leamington Canal, and Central Utah Canal. These artificial waterways trace the river's path as it cuts through Leamington Canyon, providing essential water for the lower valleys. The southern portion of the map covers a significant section of the Fishlake National Forest, where steep terrain rises toward Champlin Peak. Remote settlements like Soma and Parley are situated along the river and rail corridor, and Leamington Pass Road provides the primary traverse through the southern Pass.
