Climax and the surrounding agricultural lands of Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties are defined by a network of drainage systems and small glacial lakes. The village center is anchored by Prairie Home Cem, while the landscape is crisscrossed by Dorrance Creek, Little Portage Creek, and Longman Drain. This terrain is a complex of wetlands and low-lying basins, including Goose Pond and Le Ferre Lake, which feed into larger water bodies like the Portage River.
