Cluster Buttes defines the central topography of this eastern Montana landscape, situated along the shared boundary of Wibaux and Dawson Counties. This 1980s era survey captures a region primarily shaped by its drainage systems and agricultural infrastructure. The land is carved by several watercourses, including the North Fork and South Fork, which join the larger flow of Cottonwood Creek in the north, while Castle Creek and Box Elder drain the western and southern reaches. Scattered evidence of local industry and rural life appears in the form of several Gravel Pits and Gravel Pit sites, along with isolated Storage Bins and a Well. The map reflects a sparsely populated ranching or farming territory where the natural terrain and water sources dictated the placement of early improvements.
