The Florida National Scenic Trail winds through the salt marshes and wetlands at the edge of Apalachee Bay in this 2018 survey. This coastal landscape is defined by its intricate network of tidal creeks and pools, such as Stony Bayou Pool and Stoney Bayou, where the land yields to the Gulf of Mexico. The boundary between Wakulla and Jefferson Counties bisects the map, running north from the bay waters through the dense marshland. Offshore, navigation hazards and landmarks like Grey Mare Rock, Peters Rock, and the eponymous Cobb Rocks emerge from the shallow bay floor, while Palmetto Island sits tucked behind the protective curve of the shoreline near Haulover Creek. The eastern portion of the sheet is dominated by the Pinhook River and its accompanying Pinhook Cut-Off, illustrating the complex hydrology of this low-lying estuary.
