Kittitas Valley is defined by a sophisticated irrigation network that transforms the arid landscape of central Washington into a productive agricultural basin. The North Branch Canal and Cascade Canal trace the contours of the foothills, gravity-feeding water to the ranchlands and farms below. To the north, the terrain rises sharply into the high country, dissected by a series of dramatic drainages including Naneum Canyon, Schnebly Canyon, and Cooke Canyon.
