Champion Cr Reservoir dominates the western portion of this landscape, fed by the winding course of Champion Cr and several significant tributaries. The terrain is defined by the complex drainage patterns of N Fork Champion Cr and S Fork Champion Cr, which carve through the plains of Mitchell County. To the far west, the Colorado River makes a sharp turn at Horseshoe Bend, a prominent geological feature marking the river's path through the region. This 2016 survey shows a sparse, rural environment structured around an extensive network of county roads and ranch access points, including the water-adjacent Bass Loop and Champion 76. The convergence of Jayhawk Cr and the reservoir illustrates the essential role of water management and natural drainage in this West Texas territory.
