The Salt Fork Brazos River and N Fork Double Mountain Fork Brazos River define the hydrography of this West Texas landscape along the county line. The terrain is a network of intermittent drainages and named draws, most notably Slicknasty Cr, Cottonwood Cr, and Home Draw.

Resource management in this arid region is evidenced by dozens of named water tanks and small reservoirs scattered across the rangeland. These features, such as Bear Grass Tank, Hackberry Tank, and Hole-in- Wall Tank, suggest a land used primarily for ranching and livestock. Human infrastructure is otherwise minimal, concentrated primarily along Highway 380 and a few rural routes like Bird Rd and P 3310.
