Cougar Reservoir and the surrounding drainages of the Willamette National Forest dominate this high-elevation landscape in the Cascade Range. The terrain is defined by the deep valley of the South Fork McKenzie River, which is fed by numerous tributaries including French Pete and Walker Creek. This 2017 edition documents the network of access roads such as Natl Forest Develop Road 1994 Rd that carve through steep slopes leading to prominent peaks like Lowder Mountain and Rebel Rock.
