Grass Valley dominates the northeastern corner of this high-desert basin in Lander County, serving as a catchment for the drainage systems that define the area's hydrology. The ephemeral paths of Cowboy Rest Cr and Rosebush Cr weave through the central terrain, illustrating the seasonal water patterns common to this part of the Great Basin. This recent survey by the U.S. Geological Survey captures the intricate elevation changes across sections t23n r46e and t22n r46e, where the land rises sharply away from the valley floor. To the south, the headwaters of N Fork Skull Cr emerge from the steep slopes, while Corral Canyon Cr provides a further landmark for identifying traditional grazing or transit routes through the open range.
