Fremont National Forest dominates this section of south-central Oregon, characterized by its dense network of forest roads and vital water sources. The landscape is defined by its drainage systems, most notably Thomas Cr, which cuts through the northern sections, and Cottonwood Cr in the south. The southeastern corner is anchored by the Cottonwood Reservoir, a significant hydraulic feature in this high-elevation terrain. Numerous springs, such as Boggs Spring and Mammoth Spring, are scattered across the quadrangle, serving as critical points for local ecology and historical land use.
