Cimarron sits at the northeastern edge of this high-altitude landscape, where the Cimarron River winds past the junction of Mountain Meadow Rd. The terrain is dominated by massive elevated formations, most notably the jagged Tooth of Time Ridge and the broad expanses of Coyote Mesa and Urraca Mesa. This topography creates a complex watershed of drainages like Cimarroncito Cr and Chicoso Cr, which carve through the high country.
