The Union settlement and its surrounding agricultural landscape dominate this study of northeastern Oregon’s high country. Situated at the edge of the Grande Ronde Valley, the area is defined by the dramatic rise of Craig Mountain, which separates the valley floor from the western Ladd Canyon. Water management is central to the local geography, visible through engineered features like the Grout Ditch and Scott Ditch that traverse the Clover Creek Valley.
