The Crane Prairie Reservoir dominates this landscape in the Deschutes National Forest, where the headwaters of the Deschutes River emerge from the high country. In this 2014 survey, the complex hydrology of the Cascade Range is visible through a network of creeks and alpine pools, including Cultus Lake, Little Cultus Lake, and the smaller Comma Lake. The volcanic character of the region is punctuated by prominent cinder cones and elevations such as Cultus Mtn, Wuksi Butte, and Bench Mark Butte. A rare historical marker in this wilderness is the Billy Quinn Grave, located near Multiple Springs along the western shoreline. The map documents the extensive Forest Service road network, including the Odell Rd and Nat For Dev Rd 4630, which provides access to the high lakes and the numerous springs like Hidden Spring that feed the local watershed.
