Crater Sink defines the southwestern corner of this high-elevation Wyoming landscape, a region marked by deep drainage patterns and distinct topographic benches. The watershed is dominated by the system of Wagonhound Creek, which cuts through the center of the quadrangle supported by Wagonhound Spring and framed by the elevated Wagonhound Bench.

In the southern reaches, the wide expanse of Putney Flat sits adjacent to the winding course of Cottonwood Creek. This 1985 provisional survey, based on field work from the late 1970s, captures the land before significant modern development, focusing on the natural water sources and named landmarks that once guided early travel through the Hot Springs area. To the north, Little Prospect Creek feeds into a series of steep drainages, illustrating the complex hydrology of this part of the state.
