Crescent Lake dominates the northwest corner of this Klamath County landscape, defined by its complex shoreline and prominent landmarks like Zims Point and Hoey Point. Located within the Deschutes National Forest, the region transitions from the deep waters of the lake to the expansive Big Marsh in the south. This 2020 survey documents the seasonal recreational infrastructure of the Cascade Range, featuring an extensive network of snow-oriented trails including the Crescent Lake Loop W and Chemult Run. High-altitude volcanic features such as Odell Butte and Chinquapin Butte rise above the drainage basins of the Crescent Creek Wild and Scenic River and the Big Marsh Creek Wild and Scenic River, illustrating the protected hydrological network of the central Oregon high country.
