1893 Map of Crested Butte

USGS Topo · Published 1912

About this map

The high alpine mining environment of Gunnison County is documented in this late nineteenth-century survey, conducted just as the region's industrial footprint was firmly established. The Denver and Rio Grande Railroad snakes through the valley floor, providing the essential connection for the town of Crested Butte to the outside world. To the north, the settlement of Gothic sits at the base of Avery Peak, while the surrounding terrain is dominated by the sharp peaks of the Saw-Tooth Range and Teocalli Mt.
