Crows Nest Spring and Blind Spring provide essential water points in this arid pocket of Nevada as of 2012. The landscape is defined by the ephemeral flows of Ox Spring Wash and Little Meadows Creek, which drain toward the flatter basin floors. In the southern reaches, the terrain becomes more defined at Hooper Canyon, where Hooper Creek and Bordoli Creek meet.

Infrastructure is sparse, consisting primarily of utility and access roads that cut across the high desert, including the historic-themed Midland Trail Rd and R R Valley Rd.
